PREVENTION OF INJURY AND SAFETY PROMOTION Introduction Injury is one of the causes mortality and morbility in Uganda. A study (research is being carried out on the causes, nature, frequency and magnitude of injuries. The figures show that the injury in the country is still a big problem. The study tried to look at preventive aspects according to the causes. The government tightened the safety laws to ensure that they are implemented and adhere to, this include the seat belts, helmets, by pass and ear-marking of black spots. Health facilities are also encouraged to give preventive role on injury and violence. E.g. infection prevention like segregation of waste. "SAFETY BEGINS WITH YOU" is our motto. All of us should be the best examples of safety advocates. Interventions Programs and interventions targeting risk groups are being put in place, risk groups like males, youth, pedestrians, cyclists, passengers and children especially school going. Conclusion Therefore safety conference will assist us in getting ways of achieving the goals as mentioned above. We may learn from each other especially which others have done and adapt the same methods, we may also share some policies on safety and violence prevention during this tenth conference.
