Participation in this event, I will have enough inputs to promote public policies, projects and services associated with the prevention of violence and injury. My current work in a government agency (National Commission for Development and Life without Drugs - DEVIDA) focuses on the ongoing technical assistance to ministries, municipalities and regional governments. In the short time expected an implementation of actions aimed at strengthening the institutionalization in against the violence and its negative impacts. Furthermore, my participation in SAFETY 2010 allow me to present a significant work experience in applying methodologies of participatory situational assessments on juvenile violence and drug abuse, promoting the design and implementation of public policies and prevention programs. Actually, the youth violence in Peru is among the major public problem and ratified in quantitative and qualitative studies. Through the various experiences and lessons learned that can be obtained at this event, we can design various experiences of coordinating, networking, design and implantation of preventive programs, and applied research. The aspects related to our work are related to: Road safety (campaigns about the negative effects of alcohol and other drugs on driving), Sport and leisure related injury (preventive actions of drug use in sports arenas and recreationally zones), and Safe communities (promotion of community empowerment activities for the prevention of violence and drug abuse). SAFETY 2010 is an important opportunity for the initiation of an inter-institutional working where government and civil society can coordinate efforts. Also represents a space for learning from international experience.
