Personal submission e.g. How would attendance at the safety 2010 conference help you to improve the prevention of injury and the promotion of safety in your locality?	I have been involved in injury prevention since my residency days at Ilorin, Nigeria, where I was a member of the Centre for Injury Research and Safety Promotion. There I was involved in the following publications: Ofoegbu CKP et al. Epidemiology of non-trauma deaths. WAJM 2005;24(4):321-324 and Solagberu BA et al. Motorcycle injuries in a developing country and the vulnerability of riders, passengers, and pedestrians. Inj Prev 2006;12(4):266-268. Currently I am the Director of the Research Initiatives for Safety Promotion and Injury Prevention, a body involved in researches into issues that bother on injury prevention and promotion of a safe community in Ekiti State, South West Nigeria. I also double as the Head of Accident and Emergency Department at the University Teaching Hospital, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State. As a university scholar and attendee at a number of international conferences, I believe a lot could be gained at the safety 2010 conference that will advance the prevention of injury and promotion of safety in south west Nigeria. That is the passion I have and which I have been exhibiting over the years. In line with this, the Plastic Surgery Education Foundation and the Smile Train recently recognized me as an Educational Affiliate providing compassionate care to the worlds citizens. Living and working in a developing country often make it difficult to procure the necessary funding required for participation at international conferences, hence this application for scholarship.
