The institute, I am engaged in voluntary services to it, Bahai Institute for Higher Education (BIHE), is a response to systematically deprivation of the Bahai Community of Iran, the biggest religious minority, from many civil rights including access to higher education since 1979 development. It was originated by initiatives of some Bahai academician, who themselves were expelled from universities, and collaboration of some groups of academician abroad, that human rights were their main concerns. For more information you may visit in its website www.bihe.org. Being a BIHE graduate, I continued my post graduate education in India in the field of Health Sciences. My PhD thesis was a population based study to identify the burden, pattern and risk factors of unintentional injuries in Pune city, India. After completion of my PhD research I returned to Iran with the purpose of serving BIHE and transferring the knowledge I gained in India to the young students who find BIHE their only hope for access to higher education. I designed an MPH program for BIHE and the program is going to be launched by spring 2010. As injuries, specially road traffic injuries is a major public health problem in Iran, I am sure participation in this program, not only will expand my own capacity to offer plans and program for injury prevention, but also would increase my capability of teaching different aspects of injury control to the students who will be agents of change in near future.
