We performed a diagnostic analysis of the rehabilitation care provided to elderly victims of violence in five brazilian capitals: Manaus, Recife, Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro and Curitiba. Based on the main policies of health and prevention of violence against the elderly in the country, the evaluative indicators that were created achieved consensus through the Nominal Group Technique. Within this analysis, 47 professionals in the elderly and mental health areas and in the three levels of care (pre-hospital, hospital and rehabilitation) assessed these indicators according to importance (essential, necessary or unnecessary) and note (from 0 not important to 6 very important). The final set had 12 indicators: seven isolated and five compounds, creating indexes. Their application showed that the Manaus and Brasilias services are better prepared to care for elderly victims of violence. In Brasilia, the services excel in the care of elderly specificities as use of protocols, reinsertion activities into the community life, promotion of self-care and solidarity network, and stimulation to the participation in groups. In Rio de Janeiro, is common the preventive approach to disturbances usual in this age range. In Curitiba, the integration with the protection net to the elderly was better assessed. In Recife, the rehabilitation units are less prepared, especially in relation to laboratory support and professionals training to identify and handle the cases of elderly victims of violence. As a conclusion, the rehabilitation service has significant weaknesses in the implementation of public policies and in the insertion of the violence theme.
