Causes and Pattern of injuries in fatal cases of fall from height among autopsies conducted at M.S.Ramaiah medical hospital, Bangalore between October 2005 to May 2007, was studied. The aims of this study were to study the causes and pattern of injuries in fatal cases of fall from height cases. Total sums of 52 cases were studied. Detailed information regarding the deceased and circumstances of death was collected from the police and relatives by a questionnaire. .
	Maximum cases were between 21- 30 years. Males were more than females. Most of falls from height occurred during afternoon times followed by morning hours. Majority of the falls occurred among construction workers at construction site and extrinsic factors were the major cause for the fall from height. Pre existing medical conditions were the precipitating factors in few cases.
	Vast majority of deaths occurred on the spot. Multiorgan trauma was noticed when the surface was hard. Abdominal injury was the commonest followed by head, thorax and limbs. Liver was the most common internal organ affected followed by spleen, kidney and lungs. Fractures of ribs were common among thoracic injuries. Fissured fractures were common among skull fractures. Primary impact to the head/face was common followed by feet/lower limb
    The common risk factors and etiology observed were-
	Lack of safety measures at work place/  residence, 
	Alcoholic intoxication, 
	Chronic illness with long-term treatment, psychiatric disorders, poor vision, arthritis, and dizziness
	Lack of parental supervision of children while playingetc
