Due to the rapid industrialization in the Unite Arab Emirates (UAE), there is a need to increase the awareness of safety measures among workers. The objective was to assess the workers perception and practice regarding safety measures among workers reported at emergency department of Khalifa Hospital, Ajman, UAE. Total 152 workers reported during study period. Structured questionnaire was used for data collection and statistical analysis done using SPSS. The mean age of the study subjects were 30.27 7.86 and majority were of Indian nationality (45.4%). and most common category of occupation was construction worker (25%) followed by carpenter (22%), manufacturers (16%). Other occupations were iron-smith (14%), electricity, gas and water supply (9%), laborers (5%), mechanics (4%), painters(3%), agriculture and fishing (1%). 52.6% of the workers used the safety measure during their work, while 47.3% did not use it. The main reason for not using the safety measure, the workers reported was non-availabity of personnel protective equipment (18.4%). the other potential barriers being carelessness (12.5%). discomfort (6.6%), no felt need (5.9%), unsuitable for the job (2.6%) and 1.3% did not report any reason. The study concluded that workers are exposed to many serious types of injuries at worksite, where personal protective equipments play a vital role in the prevention. There is an urgent need to enforce strict legislative measures at work site and appropriate education to reduce morbidity and mortality in the young workforce
