The study of homicides in a city is very important because from this it can be identified focus of violence to which they must implement security plans, so that citizens have better living conditions. A daily news is usually heard about high homicide rate in Cali, Colombia. This is of big concern to all institutions that are related to public safety. The count variables are defined as the number of incidents or events that occur in the same unit of observation in a defined spatial or temporal interval. It wish to model the relationship between observed counts (murder) and regression variables potentially useful, in this case were used variables such as age, gender, and type of weapon. Thus the aim of this study is to analyze the murders in Cali, Colombia within years 2007-2008 using Poisson regression. This model is particularly suited for modeling non-negative integers. Within the results it was found that the assault with a firearm and knife were the most frequent, men had a higher relative risk than women. The results show the need to deepen the problem of homicides and events that trigger violent and criminal acts of this magnitude, so that important decisions are made in breeding programs because it is a social problem that affects all people regardless account age and gender.
